6 week session
Wednesdays June 25-July 30
6:00pm-7:15pm
$250
This process-based art class is designed for adults who wish to reconnect with their creativity through mindful exploration, intuitive expression, and artistic experimentation. Using watercolor, collage, and mixed media, students will be guided to let go of perfection, embrace spontaneity, and engage with the present moment through art-making.
Adults of all skill levels—no prior art experience required. Ideal for those seeking stress relief, creative rejuvenation, or deeper self-awareness through art.
This course will:
● Foster mindfulness through intentional, present-moment creative practices.
● Encourage intuitive expression over technical perfection.
● Explore a variety of media and techniques including watercolor washes, layered collage, mark-making, and found materials.
● Create a supportive environment for personal exploration, reflection, and inspiration.
● Build confidence and curiosity through playful experimentation
This course emphasizes process over product. Each session will begin with a short mindfulness exercise or creative prompt, followed by guided art activities. Students will be encouraged to listen to their inner voice, respond to materials, and reflect on their creative experiences in a judgment-free atmosphere.
Materials list will be emailed to registered students

Advanced Technique in Gelatin Plate Monotype
Sat, July 12th
10am - 1pm
Cost $125
In this class, Cara will help demystify printing on a gelatin plate to achieve a true collectible fine art print.
What is a Monotype anyway?
A monotype is essentially ONE of a kind: mono is a Latin word which means ONE and type means kind.
Therefore, a monotype is one printed image which does not have any form of matrix. This is different from a monoprint that has some form of basic matrix that is repeatable.
Monotypes are truely one of a kind, unique pieces of artwork.
•This workshop covers advanced techniques of paint chemistry, why and how to layer specific colors to achieve painterly and atmospheric effects. You will learn aspects of color theory and mixing useful in creating prints or paintings.
•Understanding the importance of paper selection as well as care and maintenance of a gel plate will be discussed in an easy to understand format suitable for the beginner or professional artist.
•The development of a fine art monotype takes some patience.
It is, however, guaranteed to be a very satisfying and rewarding process!
•We will be working strictly with acrylic paint (to reduce emission of VOC’s and encourage an allergy reduced environment.
NO solvents, oil based paints, rubbing alcohol or other materials that give off strong VOC’s will be used during this class)
It is worth noting that many manufactured gelatin plates are comprised of mineral oil that may have a faint scent bothersome to a minority. It is recommended to unpack your gelatin plate and let it “breathe” before use.
All are welcome.
No prior experience in gelatin plate printing necessary.
Materials list will be emailed to registered students.
